Taking a Stand

On April 9, 2018, REI announced new product sustainability standards for more than 1,000 brands sold at the nation’s largest co-op. In the near future, REI’s 16 million members purchases will reduce the environmental, social and animal welfare impacts.

The 80-year old co-op is taking a stand and requiring the apparel, equipment and accessory brands sold in the store prioritize environmental sustainability in their product design and manufacturing decisions.

With years of demonstrated support for environmental issues, the REI Product Sustainability Standards calls on the outdoor industry to change the way they do business.

One of the core values of e.dye® Waterless Color System™ is to protect nature. Through experimentation and experience, we’ve mastered a process called solution dyeing that dramatically reduces pollution.

e.dye® requires absolutely no water to dye synthetics. In addition to water savings, e.dye®’s process requires less energy, reduces CO₂ emissions and limits the chemicals used in traditional production processes. We can deliver measurable water, energy and chemical savings and a process that produces a better product.

Come see for yourself. Our Innovation Center in Kunshan, China is located 90 minutes from Shanghai.  The 160,000 square foot three-story Innovation Center includes a test lab, pilot factory and management offices.

Taking a stand can have a positive impact on our industry and our environment. We support REI’s initiatives and look to a future providing apparel brands with a textile dyeing alternative that reduces pollution.
